Connecting your DDx project with Energy Star Portfolio Manager

Connecting your DDx project with Energy Star Portfolio Manager

Linking a DDx project to an Energy Star Portfolio Manager (ESPM) project allows measured data from the project to be shared from ESPM, versus having to enter the data manually.  It also allows the aggregation and comparison of predicted and measured energy for the project.

A project is required to be part of an ESPM account, as well as part of a firm’s DDx portfolio before an ESPM link can be set up.  Currently, new projects cannot be created in either the DDx and/or ESPM through the ESPM link process.

Follow these steps to connect your ESPM account to the DDx:

Step 1: Add the AIA account to your ESPM Contacts

Step 2: Share your projects with the AIA ESPM account

Step 3: Adding/updating data from ESPM to the 2030 DDx

Step 1: Add the AIA account to your ESPM Contacts

These steps will allow you to add the AIA ESPM account to your contacts to enable later project sharing. Login page for ESPM: https://portfoliomanager.energystar.gov/pm/login

a. The AIA account needs to be added to “Contacts”.  Otherwise, it will not display as an option in the ESPM Project Share process.

Step 3. Adding/Updating project data from ESPM to 2030 DDx

These steps will allow you to update data for a current or past year and/or to add additional years of post-occupancy data.

a. In the Post-occupancy data section of the DDx, select the “ESPM update” button. This will open the connection dialog box.

c. Once the project has successfully been shared with the AIA 2030 Commitment ESPM account a data preview will appear.

d. Select your year and the “Complete Upload” button. When an ESPM link has been established for a project, the ESPM Project ID is displayed in the Post-Occupancy data section.  Another way to confirm the ESPM project data has been added is to hover over the “clock icon.”

Select the arrows next to the years to see details for each fuel source reported to ESPM.

image-20251031-222308.png

To update or overwrite the data select the “ESPM Update” button or selecting the “three-dot” icon to the right provides the ability to edit and/or delete the ESPM Project ID. When you update a project you will again see the data preview with the year dropdown. Updating data will override any data from the same year previously added.

Only one entry per fuel source type is permitted (example - a project can't have three "other fossil fuel" fuel source entries for a single year.

You cannot combine ESPM data with manually added data, but you can add a year manually if it does not have ESPM data associated with it by using the “+ Add Data” button.
