Upon the sunsetting of the 2030 Signatory Directory on AIA.org, this information has now been moved directly to a new 2030 Signatory Directory that lives directly on the DDx landing page before the user logs in. Learn more >

Embodied carbon updates

Embodied carbon data continues inputs continue to be an optional field fields for DDx project data. This year, upon the release of the ECHO Project Schema, the AIA DDx has aligned its embodied carbon data fields to reflect the certain data points from the schema. The bulk import spreadsheet will be updated accordingly in December has been updated to reflect these additional fields for projects with embodied carbon data. Changes include:

  • LCA assessment year (noteNote: historically in the DDx, embodied carbon modeled modeling date was optional)

  • Project phase at the time of assessment (optional)

  • Building Construction Type (optional)

  • Carbon modeling tools expanded list

    • Athena IE

    • Beacon

    • BEAM

    • Build Carbon Neutral

    • CARE Tool

    • Carbon Conscience

    • cove.tool

(with an expanded list building upon past year’s)
    • EC3

    • EPIC

    • Embodied Carbon Order of Magnitude (ECOM)

    • eTOOL

    • OneClick LCA

    • Pathfinder

    • Simapro

    • Tangible

    • tallyLCA

    • Other

  • When listing which scopes were included in the analysis, there will be inclusion of additional scopes to check all that apply. This will include:

    • Shell -superstructureSuperstructure

    • Shell -exteriorInteriors-constructionExterior Enclosure

    • Interior Construction

    • Interiors -finishesFinishes

    • Services

    • Sitework

    • Equipment

    • Furnishings

    • For each scope, there will be opportunity to break down the predicted embodied carbon (kgCO2e/m2). If not available, please provide the full predicted embodied carbon for the project.

More information will be coming in December 2024!Find more information on the Add Embodied Carbon Data page.
