Add Embodied Carbon Data
There are now two pathways to report embodied carbon data:
After you select "Track Design Data," and toggle Yes on the Embodied Carbon tile several fields and a table will open as new options, pictured below. These include the required fields for project are in square meters (this will be needed to calculate the GWP intensity in the table below and can be different from the square footage of your project), carbon modeling tool, time, party, and LCA stages.
Note: For definitions, the ECHO Project authors acknowledge “that while OmniClass is predominantly used in North America, various
construction classification systems are utilized globally. International entities are encouraged to adapt the Assessment Inclusions section of the schema to align with their respective classification systems as needed. The working group chose to leverage OmniClass Table 21 for determining assessment inclusions."
The scopes are included: Substructure, Shell Superstructure, Shell Exterior Enclosure, Interior Construction, Others, Interior Finishes, MEP, Sitework, Equipment, Furnishings. The LCA stages included are: Product stage (A1-3), Construction process stage A4, Construction process stage A5, Use (B1-5), End of life (C1- 4), Module D. These are meant to align with the ECHO Schema requirements.
The table should be filled in with as much data as you have available, if you do not have data for any of the stages you can use the “Override” button at the bottom of the table to freeze the table and input your own GWP Intensity number.
An additional optional field for “Reduction Strategies” has been added to this section to start collecting information about project strategies which will tie into later data analysis efforts to be shared back with signatory firms.
Biogenic carbon may also be tracked. Selecting Yes to “Was biogenic carbon included?” will open an optional field for further description, including notes on any assumptions made that you would like to document.
