Add Embodied Carbon Data
There are now two pathways to report embodied carbon data:
- Choose a Whole-Building or Interiors-only project and fill out the required information for the subsequent Project Type. When you go to "Track Design Data," and select Yes on the Embodied Carbon tile, this will open several fields. These include the required fields of predicted embodied carbon, carbon modeling tool, time, scope, and LCA stages. The version of the carbon modeling tool, phase of the project, and building construction type may also be entered as an optional field. If the embodied carbon reported calculation includes furnishings and equipment, please click the check box. Additionally, the scope and LCA stages allow for multiple selections.
Biogenic carbon may also be tracked. Selecting Yes to “Was biogenic carbon included?” will open an optional field for further description, including notes on any assumptions made that you would like to document.
- Choose the Embodied Carbon Only project type when creating a new project.
It will then prompt you to input the required project information including estimated occupancy year, energy code, and project use types and the area with both conditioned and unconditioned values.
Once completing the Extended project information, you will be prompted to input Track Data.
Upon clicking Track Data, you will be brought to the following page where you will input the required fields of predicted embodied carbon, carbon modeling tool, time, scope, and LCA stages. The version of the carbon modeling tool, phase of the project, and building construction type may also be entered as an optional field. If the embodied carbon reported calculation includes furnishings and equipment, please click the check box. Additionally, the scope and LCA stages allow for multiple selections.
Note: What's different from the Whole-building and Interiors-only embodied carbon data tracking is via the Embodied Carbon Only project, you can input additional embodied carbon data including global warming potential (GWP) by LCA stage and scope. Each input will be added to sum the building's total GWP (kgCO2e/m2).
