A detail article has information for a specific topic or action.  It may contain steps with screen shots or a simple set of instructions that the user should follow.

This page can mark specific content which may be used by multiple pages using the Excerpt macro.  The other option to reuse the detail article is to pull the whole page into another page by using the  Include Page macro to access the detail article page.

Example of marking content with excerpt macro:

  1. When editing the page select the content to mark for reuse:

2. Marking content with the excerpt macro.

a. Select the + (plus sign) on the top menu bar to get the drop down menu to access macro

b. Scroll down the drop down menu to select Other macros

c. Enter excerpt into the search box to find the macro and then select Excerpt

d. A Preview of the mark content will be displayed, select Insert to mark the content.

e.  The content will display as follows when the page is in edit mode

f. When the page is published the content will display without the excerpt box.  The content that was marked is below:

The content should be marked by an excerpt macro. The excerpt macro marks the content of the detail article which can be pulled into other pages as needed.  When the detail article is updated, the new information will be pulled into all pages that use it.  This allows for a change in only one page making it easier to maintain over time.

If you have multiple pieces of page content to mark for reuse, use the Multiexcerpt macro.  Additional resource is Confluence Excerpt Macro Documentation:  https://confluence.atlassian.com/conf615/excerpt-macro-967337916.html
